Popular Opinion Versus God Leading

My current favorite. :)

Popular opinion.
Abraham was not swayed by it.
Popular opinion said he was crazy to strike out on that journey with no plans. Abraham wasn't swayed by popular opinion. He believed God, trusted God, had faith that if God said do it He would make a way for it to happen.
We say, "Where is the God of Abraham today?" but I think we should be saying, "Where are the Abrahams of God today?"
We plan every detail of our day, week, month, sometimes even minutes and seconds till God has no room to move in "our plans". Abrahams faith in God is what kept him in the covenant. He did just fine with no plans as long as he kept it that way. It was when he decided to try and make what God promised come about that he suffered.
Don't we do that today? We get in Gods way when we try to "help" him arrange his plans, than we suffer for it and give God the "credit" for the suffering, saying God is somehow getting glory out of our suffering.
A boy and his father were walking through the woods. The boy insisted on holding the fathers hand in his. As they walked the son tripped, injuring himself. The father stopped, reached down his hand and said "Son, now let me hold your hand in mine". As they walked along the son tripped again but this time, because the father had the sons hand in his own, he could hold him up so as to keep the son from falling and injuring himself further.
The question is am I letting the Father hold my hand and lead the way or am I holding His hand and trying to lead Him my way?
Even when I insist on my own way and stumble He's a gracious God and picks me back up (just as He did Abraham) and says " Come, let me show you the way now. Rest, let me lead and clear the obstacles out of your way".

Isaiah 30:15 This is what the sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you will have none of it.
16. You said, 'No we will ride off on swift horses.' therefore you will flee! You said, 'We will ride off on swift horses.' Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
17 A thousand will flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will all flee away, till you are left like a flagstaff on a mountaintop, like a banner on a hill."
18. Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you: therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of jusice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!
19. People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.
20.Although the Lord gives you the bread of your adversity and the water of your affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.
21. Whether you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,"This is the way; walk in it"

Most of this is taken from todays message at church with a little of my thoughts added to it.

In other happenings from today... I love to see my sons determination when it comes to playing the guitar. He's working hard on learning to play the chords his effort is starting to pay off.

After playing outside and going for a walk we came inside and made some pages of encouragement for a scrapbook to send to an uncle who is not able to be up and around right now.

She knows exactly which item she's looking for and it's not this one.

She hasn't realized it yet but that special one that she loves to use is in this bunch.

And when she discovers she has it she says "Ooooh!" Yep it's that one with the black top. You know. The one that smells so good on your paper. (or whatever you might find to write on)
Yeah, thats the one, with the black top!  It's called 'permanent' for a reason!
