Kitten Hopefuls

We've had all sorts of pets over the years but the one pet my 10 year old has begged me for over and over is a cat. We've tried numerous times to have a cat but it seems they always disappear or get hit on the road and I just can't see spending all that money for shots (required by the state to have since we are a licensed daycare) just to have the pet gone in a short time.
At some point she wondered whether she'd be allowed to get a cat if she herself  saved up enough money for shots. I agreed but tried to convince her (successfully for awhile) that it would be a waste of hard earned dollars to use her money for something that wouldn't last. She agreed it would be. For awhile. Then she started saving money. And selling toys. And wishing for things she refused to allow herself to buy. And this evening she got her wish. An adorable little orange kitten. I sure hope we can manage to keep this kittenf or a good long time!

While we were at the pet store my oldest daughter saw a parakeet she fell in love with. So we came home with a kitten and a parakeet.

We have a lot of mum shoots transplanted that took off growing so this evening we transplanted them into bigger pots while we waited for the fire to burn itself down.

We ran out of pots before we got them all transplanted.

The plans were for this box to go in the fire until it turned into a car.

And while all that was going on this little man was trying to make an "engine" for his wooden airplane.

Last but not least- fresh "homegrown" chicken breast being wrapped for the freezer.
